Margaret Bourke-White

Margaret Bourke-White is considered a very important photojournalist in America. She started a photography business in Cleveland Ohio in 1927 and focused on industry photography. Her photographs gained recognition and she was first published in Fortune Magazine. She later moved to New York to work on advertising photography and was then hired for Life Magazine as the first female photojournalist.

Part of her career included war photography in Eurpoe. Her autobiography was published in 1963, titled Portrait of Myself. She later developed Parkinson’s Disease and died at the age of 67.
